Radical Acceptance Coping Statements
- This is the way it has to be.
- All the events have led up to now.
- I can’t change what’s already happened.
- It’s no use fighting the past.
- Fighting the past only blinds me to my present.
- The present is the only moment I have control over.
- It’s a waste of time to fight what’s already occurred.
- The present moment is perfect, even if I don’t like what’s happening.
- This moment is exactly as it should be, given what’s happened before it.
- This moment is the result of over a million other decisions.
- Embrace the present and make the best of it.
Using the coping statements that I’ve highlighted above, I’m going to try to radically accept different moments from my life without judging them.
Currently, I’m highly skilled in areas that can either mean a lot or nothing (commodity) depending on how it’s framed. I’ve summarized my decisions leading to my current financial predicament, as due to my embracing a meritocracy over a capitalism, and not being realistic about my expenditure. A mix of arrogance and fear in the imposter syndrome area has led me to avoid a more normal course of career. Instead, I have been independent my whole life. I’ve structured my life around being able to build things that can solve problems. However, I have difficulty solving the money problem, other than by selling myself as a contract worker – and I want to be able to be able to create my own enterprise of self-sufficiency and passive income that derives from my creations. I have dreams of it being more, but I’m also okay with it being simply acceptable.
